What to wear to your engagement session

engagement session,muslim couple,

Your engagement photos are photos that are meant to last a lifetime. They’re a once in a lifetime memory that you’ll look back on for the rest of your life. Deciding what to wear to your engagement session can be a very daunting task. Lucky for you, I’ve made this handy dandy guide to help you out! Here are some tips and trick for picking out your engagement photograph outfits!

DO:

1. Coordinate

Make sure that what you and your partner are wearing, “go” together. You don’t want to be overly matchy-matchy, but you do want to look like you belong together. Don’t necessarily wear the exact same colors, but picking something in the same color family is a good idea. You also want to make sure that you and your partner are on the same level of “fanciness.” If one is wearing a tuxedo or evening gown, the other shouldn’t be wearing jeans and a t-shirt.

2. Don’t be afraid of color, but stay simple

Go ahead! Throw in a pop of color! But try to make sure it’s just a pop! I would recommend avoiding an all-over, color-blocked, really bright outfit. Stick to softer colors that feel more timeless and classic.

3. Accessorize and layer up

Go ahead and add some texture. I suggest sticking to one stand out piece, but don’t be afraid of a statement necklace or a fun scarf. Layers are always really fun and can provide dimension in photos. Throw on a cardigan and have some fun!

4. Compliment your surroundings

Now, there’s always room for fun and for going outside the box, but be sure to think of the look you know you want when you pick your location. Then, when choosing your outfit, just keep your location and the vibe you were going for in mind.

5. Don’t be afraid to dress up

There’s nothing wrong with putting on a really fancy suit or an evening gown for your engagements. If that’s what you want to do, go for it! These photos are a once in a lifetime memory and they should reflect anything you want them to.

6. Be comfortable and confident and what you’re wearing

The biggest and most important tip I have for you is to be comfortable. In deciding what to wear to your engagement session, make sure that at the end of the day, you feel like you. These are your memories, your moments, and your photos. You should feel totally confident at all moments.

Other Pieces of Advice:

1. Avoid really loud or overpowering prints

Make sure that you are the center of attention at your engagement session, not your clothes. Prints are always fun, but make sure that whatever print you’re wearing, doesn’t take the attention away from you and your partner.

2. Don’t dramatically change your hair or makeup just before your session

Dramatic hair changes and new makeup styles are great to play around with. But remember that you’ll be looking at these photos for years and years to come and looking like yourself is probably best. If you are going to change something up before your session, make sure you give yourself enough time to settle into the new style. Too dramatic of a change too close to your session can leave you feeling weird and like you still haven’t gotten used to it.

3. Don’t wear something that doesn’t make you feel special, pretty, or good

These are your once in a lifetime memories. You should never feel uncomfortable or not like yourself in them. Remember happy moments. Not moments when you felt awkward and weird. Go out and own your photo shoot! It is yours after all!

4. Just. Have. Fun.

You can forget every other tip and trick I’ve given you if you can just remember this one. The most important thing to remember when it comes to your engagement shoot is to enjoy yourself. You can wear what ever you want, as long as you love it. I always say that everyone is photogenic because happiness and confidence shine through more than anything else. Enjoy yourself!

I hope this has helped you figure out what to wear to your engagement session! I know figuring out what you want to wear in your photographs can be quite daunting, so feel free to reach out if you have more questions.
